OBS Overlays: Chat, Alerts, Polls & Quizzes on Screen
Show chat messages, alerts, live poll results, quiz questions, and leaderboard scores directly on your stream. Add as browser sources in OBS, customise the colors, and everything updates in real time while you multistream to Twitch and YouTube.
Five overlay types
Chat overlay
Display chat messages from both Twitch and YouTube on your stream. Each message shows the viewer's name with a platform-colored accent, purple for Twitch and red for YouTube. New messages animate in smoothly.
Alerts overlay
Show live alerts for subscriptions, raids, cheers, super chats, and other monetisation events. Choose between a vertical card stack or a horizontal scrolling ticker. Each alert shows the event type, viewer name, and any attached message.
Poll overlay
Display live stream poll results with animated vote bars. Shows the question, options, vote counts, and percentages. Appears automatically when you create a poll and disappears when you end it.
Quiz overlay
Display live stream quiz questions with numbered options and a countdown timer. After the timer expires, the correct answer is revealed. Transitions smoothly between questions.
Quiz leaderboard overlay
Show a ranked leaderboard of viewer scores during a stream quiz. Updates after each question as scores change. Displays viewer name, platform, and current points.

Set up in under a minute
1. Generate your overlay token
From the Rebeam dashboard, go to the Overlays page and generate a secure overlay token. This token authenticates your overlays without exposing your account credentials.
2. Copy the overlay URLs
Rebeam gives you five URLs, one each for chat, alerts, polls, quiz, and quiz leaderboard. Copy whichever overlays you want to use.
3. Add as browser sources in OBS
In OBS, add a new Browser Source for each overlay. Paste the URL, and the overlay appears with a transparent background. Position and resize it in your scene however you like.
Fully customizable colors
Every overlay has its own set of customisable colors. Adjust text colors, accent colors, background opacity, and gradient bars to match your stream branding. The chat overlay has per-platform colors for Twitch and YouTube accents, so each platform's messages are visually distinct.
Changes are made from the Customise page in the Rebeam dashboard. You get a live preview with mock data so you can see exactly how your overlays will look before going live. Settings auto-save and apply instantly to any running overlays. No need to restart browser sources in OBS.
Chat colors
Text color, accent color, and username color per platform. Font size. Optional background with adjustable opacity.
Alert colors
Text color and accent border color per platform. Font size. Vertical stack or horizontal ticker layout.
Poll colors
Title, subtitle, option numbers, text, and gradient bar colors (start and end). Font size.
Quiz colors
Question text, options, timer, correct and incorrect highlight colors. Font size.
Leaderboard colors
Title, viewer names, scores, and first-place highlight color. Font size.
Real-time updates
Overlays are connected to Rebeam via WebSocket, so everything updates instantly. Chat messages appear as they are sent. Alerts show the moment someone subscribes, raids, or sends a super chat. Poll votes tick up in real time. If your connection drops, the overlay reconnects automatically.
Available on Creator plans
OBS overlays and color customisation are available on the Creator plan at £10/month (300 hours) and Creator Plus at £15/month (300 hours). Check the pricing page for the full plan comparison.
