Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Rebeam multistreaming.

Getting Started

Rebeam is a multistreaming platform for Twitch and YouTube. You send a single RTMP stream to Rebeam, and we forward it to both platforms simultaneously with no re-encoding or transcoding. Paid plans include unified multichat, stream polls, stream quizzes, and customizable OBS overlays for chat, alerts, polls, and quizzes.

No. Rebeam works with any streaming software that supports custom RTMP servers, including OBS Studio, Streamlabs, and XSplit. Just paste your Rebeam RTMP URL into your software and start streaming.

Sign up for an account, connect your Twitch and YouTube accounts via OAuth, then copy your unique Rebeam RTMP URL into your streaming software (e.g. OBS). Configure your stream titles and categories from the Rebeam dashboard, then go live. The whole process takes under five minutes.

Any software that supports custom RTMP servers works with Rebeam. This includes OBS Studio, Streamlabs, XSplit, vMix, and many others. If your software lets you set a custom RTMP URL and stream key, it will work.

Streaming & Quality

No. Rebeam uses pure RTMP packet relay, which means your video and audio packets are forwarded exactly as sent. There is no re-encoding, transcoding, or compression. What you send is what your viewers see on every platform.

RTMP relay is pure packet forwarding. Unlike transcoding services that decode your stream, process it, and re-encode it (which introduces quality loss and latency), Rebeam forwards your raw RTMP packets directly to each platform. This preserves 100% of your original quality. Learn more on our multistreaming page (/features/multistreaming).

Rebeam adds under 20 milliseconds of latency, which is practically invisible. Because we relay packets rather than re-encode, the overhead is limited to network transit between our servers and the destination platforms.

We recommend 6000 kbps for the best balance across Twitch and YouTube. This matches Twitch's official maximum (6000 kbps for both Affiliates and Partners) and sits comfortably in YouTube's recommended 1080p60 range. Rebeam allows up to 10000 kbps maximum — streams above this are disconnected to protect quality across all viewers. Any resolution is fine as long as your bitrate stays under 10 Mbps.

Plans & Billing

Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Your plan benefits will remain active until the end of your current billing period. There are no cancellation fees or long-term commitments.

Platforms & Features

Rebeam currently supports Twitch and YouTube. We are working on adding more platforms after launch. You can connect both platforms from your dashboard via OAuth in just a few clicks.

Multichat is a unified chat view that combines live chat from all your connected platforms into a single interface. Instead of switching between Twitch and YouTube chat windows, you see everything in one place and can respond to viewers across platforms. Multichat is available on the Creator plan. Learn more (/features/multichat).

Yes. From the Rebeam dashboard you can configure stream titles, categories, and other settings independently for each connected platform. This lets you optimise your metadata for each platform's audience without needing to log into each service separately.

Stream polls let you run live audience votes during your stream. You create a poll from the Rebeam dashboard with a question and up to five options. Viewers vote by typing a number (1-5) in Twitch or YouTube chat. Votes are counted across both platforms in real time, and results are announced in chat when you end the poll. Polls are available on the Creator plan. Learn more (/features/polls).

Stream quizzes let you run timed knowledge tests during your stream. You create a quiz with multiple questions, each with options and a correct answer. During the stream, questions appear one at a time with a countdown timer. Viewers answer by typing a number in Twitch or YouTube chat. Correct answers earn points, and a live leaderboard tracks scores across all questions. Quiz and leaderboard overlays are available for OBS. Quizzes are available on the Creator plan. Learn more (/features/quizzes).

Rebeam provides five browser source overlays you can add to OBS: a chat overlay (shows messages from both platforms), an alerts overlay (shows subs, raids, cheers, and super chats), a poll overlay (shows live voting results), a quiz overlay (shows timed questions with answer reveals), and a quiz leaderboard overlay (shows ranked viewer scores). Generate an overlay token from the dashboard, copy the URL into OBS as a browser source, and you are done. Available on the Creator plan. Learn more (/features/overlays).

Yes. Every overlay has full color customization, including text colors, accent colors, background opacity, gradient bars, and font sizes. The chat overlay even has per-platform colors for Twitch and YouTube accents. Changes are made from the Customise page in the dashboard with a live preview, and apply instantly to running overlays without needing to restart browser sources in OBS.

Technical

Rebeam currently operates relay servers in two regions: EU and US. Your streaming software connects to ingest.rebeam.stream and is automatically routed to the nearest region.

No. Your video and audio data is relayed in real time and is never stored on our servers. Rebeam is a pure relay. Packets pass through and are forwarded to your destination platforms immediately.

Yes. Rebeam connects to Twitch and YouTube via OAuth, so we never see your platform passwords. OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest on our servers. You can revoke access at any time from your platform settings or from the Rebeam dashboard.

If your Rebeam stream key is compromised, you can regenerate it instantly from your dashboard. The old key will stop working immediately and you will need to update the RTMP URL in your streaming software with the new key.

Comparison

Rebeam is a simple, affordable multistreaming relay built specifically for Twitch and YouTube from £3/month, with unlimited streaming from £9/month. Restream is a broader platform supporting 30+ destinations with features like recording, overlays, and a browser-based studio, starting at $19/month. If you only need Twitch and YouTube, Rebeam is the simpler and cheaper option. See a detailed comparison (/compare/restream).
