Quiz Overlays and Leaderboards: OBS Setup Guide

Rebeam's quiz overlays let your viewers see quiz questions and leaderboard scores directly on your stream. Two separate overlays — one for the quiz itself and one for the leaderboard — both added to OBS as browser sources in seconds.

What the quiz overlay shows

The quiz overlay displays each question as it appears: the question text, numbered options, and a countdown timer. When time runs out, the correct answer is highlighted. Between questions, the overlay transitions smoothly. Fully customisable colours.

What the leaderboard overlay shows

The leaderboard overlay ranks viewers by score. It updates after each question as scores change. Shows viewer name, platform (Twitch or YouTube), and current score. After the final question, the leaderboard shows final rankings.

Setting up quiz overlays in OBS

The setup takes under a minute. Here is the step-by-step process:

1. Generate your overlay token

From the Rebeam dashboard, go to the Overlays page and generate a secure overlay token.

2. Copy the quiz overlay URLs

The dashboard shows URLs for each overlay type. Copy the quiz URL and the quiz leaderboard URL.

3. Add as browser sources in OBS

In OBS, add a new Browser Source for each overlay. Paste the URL. The overlay renders with a transparent background. Position and resize in your scene.

Customising colours

Go to the Customise page in the Rebeam dashboard. Adjust quiz overlay colours (question text, options, timer, correct/incorrect highlights) and leaderboard colours (title, names, scores, first place highlight). Changes apply instantly to running overlays.

Tips for quiz overlay placement

• Centre-screen quiz. Place the quiz overlay centre-screen or slightly offset so it's prominent during questions.
• Corner leaderboard. Place the leaderboard in a corner so it's visible but not blocking gameplay.
• Test with live preview. Test with the live preview in the Customise page before going live.
• Hide between questions. Consider hiding the leaderboard between questions if screen space is tight.
